We are so thrilled to share that part new collection has landed here at Hope Lane Designs. The collection features custom-designed artwork made with love just for us by Kahla from KB Art Design.
Kahla is a Badimia Yamatji woman, from northwest of Perth. She now lives in Perth on Whadjuk Noongar Country with her three young children.
Kahla found herself called to her art practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using art to express her feelings and emotions has brought Kayla both peace and pride. Through her art, she shares what is important to her, and she says she enjoys hearing the stories of others and weaving them into her custom designs.
The artwork is a beautiful combination of dots, circles and lines. Kahla told us the middle circle represents the inner being, the core self. This self is always on a journey to connect to a deeper version of ourselves. Through this journey, we are attentive to and take care of ourselves, enabling us to take care of others.
The individual arches represent the individuals who make up the family, and the outer circle represents the unbreakable bond to family. This representation of the self and family spoke to us to do deeply. We know how it feels to be at the heart of the family and the centre of our children’s world. It's a place of great joy and great responsibility too.
We couldn’t love this design any more than we do. The colour palette is perfect. The dusty pinks, the warm latte brown, and the cream are nothing short of delicious! The earthy tones remind us of the beautiful autumn landscapes of our country. And while we can't always be out in nature, but we can protect and cultivate our inner world.
This artwork speaks of community and connection. It is about being true to you, and protecting what’s most important. This idea matches perfectly with the Hope Lane Designs ethos.
